Carteret County Historic Courthouse Chimney Repairs

Background
Carteret County Government is seeking proposals for chimney repairs at the Historic Courthouse, located at 302 Courthouse Square, Beaufort, NC 28516. The goal of this contract is to ensure the structural integrity and aesthetic preservation of the historic building through necessary masonry and flashing repairs.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for tuckpointing and replacing flashing for four chimneys. Specific tasks include:

- **Chimney Tuckpointing**: Inspect and remove loose or cracked mortar to a depth of at least ¾ inch, clean joints for bonding, repoint using matching mortar, ensure proper curing, and replace any damaged bricks with matching ones.

- **Flashing Replacement**: Remove existing shingles and flashing, install ice and water shield membrane extending 24 inches beyond flashing placement, fabricate and install new custom copper flashing including head, step, apron/base, and counterflashing using copper fasteners or solder for watertight assembly.

- Install new matching shingles ensuring proper overlap and alignment with existing roofing.

- Provide all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision. Clean all debris daily and protect surrounding surfaces.

Period of Performance
The work must be completed within 60 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

The contract will be performed at the Historic Courthouse located at 302 Courthouse Square, Beaufort, NC 28516.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must provide a W-9 form and current Certificates of Insurance for public liability, property damage, and Workers’ Compensation. Insurance certificates must list Carteret County Government as additionally insured. Contractors are also required to comply with the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act.
