Background
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit offers from qualified firms to provide campus onsite and online Bookstore Management Services for Haywood Community College (HCC). HCC is a two-year public institution that serves the educational needs of a rural area in North Carolina, offering a diverse range of academic programs and workforce development opportunities.
The college emphasizes community engagement and aims to equip students with the skills required for success in their chosen professions. The intent of this solicitation is to award an Agency Contract to a single vendor to provide bookstore services.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for managing and operating the College's campus onsite and online bookstore, which includes:
1. Stocking, displaying, and selling course materials (new/used/rental/digital) and required supplies/tools as designated by departmental staff.
2. Offering general merchandise such as books, soft goods, stationery, gifts, clothing, jewelry, etc., consistent with institutional standards.
3. Managing the disposition of surplus or distressed merchandise.
4. Providing special order services for students, faculty, and staff with the earliest possible delivery.
5. Facilitating departmental charge sales.
Period of Performance
The contract shall have an initial term of 3 years beginning on the date of final contract execution (the Effective Date), with the option for the College to extend the contract at the end of this term.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Haywood Community College's campus locations in North Carolina.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be registered in good standing with North Carolina's Electronic Vendor Portal (eVP). Vendors are required to demonstrate experience with similar higher education bookstore operations and provide references using Attachment E: Customer Reference Form. Additionally, vendors must comply with background check requirements for all personnel involved in providing services under this contract.
