Air Conditioning Installation Services at Gaston Correctional Center

Background
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) is issuing a solicitation for air conditioning installation services at the Gaston Correctional Center. The goal of this contract is to enhance the HVAC system within the facility, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for inmates and staff. This project falls under the purview of the NCDAC Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Replacing existing air-handlers with split systems
- Adding DX coils
- Balancing the HVAC system
- Installing Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC
- Adding smoke exhaust fans
- Adding general exhaust fans.

The preferred brand for the HVAC DDC control system is Distech ECB Series; however, other brands may be considered if they meet NCDAC specifications.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence after the bid award on 5/29/2025 and will continue until completion as per the agreed timeline outlined in the contract documents.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Gaston Correctional Center located at 520 Justice Court, Dallas, NC 28034.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have an Intermediate license classification as required by the NC General Contractors Licensing Board. Additionally, bidders are required to submit forms identifying minority business participation (Affidavit A or Affidavit B) with their proposals. A cash deposit or certified check equal to 5% of the proposal amount or a bid bond of 5% is required. A performance bond and a payment bond for 100% of the contract price will also be necessary.
