Invitation for Bids: Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements

Background
The City of Newton, located in Newton County, Mississippi, is issuing an invitation for bids for the construction of improvements to the Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) under MDEQ Agreement No. 533-1-CW-5.5.

The goal of this contract is to enhance the wastewater treatment capabilities of the facility, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and improving overall efficiency.

Work Details
The principal items of work included under the Base Bid are:
1. Solids removal and disposal from a designated segment of Lagoon Cell No. 1;
2. Refurbishment of Cell No. 1 aeration-mixing system.

The Additive Bid Items include:
1. Replacement of grit chamber (including relocation of ultrasonic flow metering system and associated site civil improvements);
2. Installation of a floating baffle curtain;
3. Coating of grit chamber.

All related items necessary to complete the project as specified in the Contract Documents must also be performed by the Contractor.

Period of Performance
The contract time shall be 270 consecutive calendar days from the effective date shown in the Notice to Proceed to achieve Substantial Completion,

and 300 consecutive calendar days for Final Completion.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at City Hall, 203 East Church Street, Newton, MS 39345.
