Construction of Monroe County Airport Runway Extension and Overlay

Background
The Monroe County Board of Supervisors is issuing a solicitation for the construction of an airport runway extension and overlay project at Monroe County Airport. This project is identified as AIP PROJECT NO. 3-28-0001-027-2025 and AIG PROJECT NO. 3-28-0001-028-2025. The goal of the contract is to enhance the airport's infrastructure, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and improving operational capabilities.

Work Details
The work consists of the following:

- Construction of a 500’ x 75’ asphalt runway extension, which includes:
- Clearing and dirt work
- Runway and approach lighting improvements
- Markings for the new extension

- Milling and overlaying the existing asphalt runway measuring 5,000’ x 75’ with a thickness of 1.5 inches.

- Marking of the existing runway after overlaying.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from the date of award until completion, with bids due by June 2nd, 2025.

Place of Performance
The construction will take place at Monroe County Airport, located in Aberdeen, Mississippi.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must qualify under Mississippi Law and possess a Certificate of Responsibility. Additionally, federal provisions such as Buy American Preference, Foreign Trade Restriction, Davis Bacon Act compliance, Affirmative Action requirements, Government-Wide Debarment & Suspension regulations, and Drug-Free Workplace requirements will be incorporated into the contract.
