Call for Artists: Mural Design and Execution on Old Biggs Hardware Building in Crystal Springs, MS

Background
Main Street Crystal Springs (MSCS) is issuing a Call for Artists to design and execute an exterior mural on the Old Biggs Hardware Building located in Crystal Springs, MS. This initiative aims to enhance the Downtown Business District by creating a mural that reflects the rich history and pride of the community, schools, and heritage of Crystal Springs.

Work Details
The selected artist will be responsible for designing and painting a mural on the exterior wall of the Old Biggs Hardware Building. The mural should integrate two main goals:

1) Announce the arrival in Downtown Crystal Springs through text, logo/imagery;
2) Celebrate the pride of Crystal Springs through artistic expression.

The painted mural must adhere to the approved concept design, with any necessary edits completed before final payment. Artists are required to submit a budget covering materials, supplies, travel, accommodations, and painting/sealing costs. The total project budget will be split into two payments: 50% upon signing an agreement and 50% upon satisfactory completion of the mural.

Period of Performance
The deadline for artists to apply is October 18, 2024. Artist selection will occur by November 6, 2024, and the mural must be fully completed by December 13, 2024, subject to weather conditions and mutual agreement between the artist, MSCS, and the City of Crystal Springs.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the Old Biggs Hardware Building located at 101 South Jackson Street, Crystal Springs, MS.
