2024 - Antire Road Safety Improvements

Background
The project is initiated by Jefferson County, Missouri, aimed at improving road safety on Antire Road. The enhancements are intended to address existing safety concerns and improve the overall functionality of the roadway. The goal is to provide a safer driving environment for all users, including vehicles and pedestrians.

Work Details
The proposed work includes:
- Adding 2’ to 4’ Type A3 shoulders throughout the project limits on Antire Road.
- Reconstruction of the sharp curve on Antire Road at Crestview Drive, which includes a new horizontal and vertical curve alignment.
- Installation of new guardrail with crashworthy end terminals.
- Construction of asphalt and concrete paved approaches.
- Linear shoulder grading.
- Small block retaining walls.
- Installation of underground storm sewers.
- Application of an ultra-thin bonded wearing surface throughout the project limits.
- Installation of rumble strips and striping as per specifications.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall have a maximum of One Hundred Twenty (120) Working Days to complete the project, with a completion date set for December 31, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed on Antire Road in Jefferson County, Missouri.

Bidder Requirements
All bidders must be on MoDOT’s Qualified Contractor List per Section 102.2 of the Missouri Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, 2025 Edition. Contractors must provide a minimum 10-Hour OSHA construction safety program for their on-site employees within sixty (60) days of beginning work on the construction project. A cashier’s check or bid bond in the amount of 5% shall be submitted with each proposal along with a certificate of insurance.
