Snow Removal & De-icing Services for 2024-2027

Background
Minneapolis College is seeking proposals for snow removal and de-icing services at its Minneapolis campus. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe access to the campus during winter months through effective snow and ice management over a three-year term.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive snow and ice removal services, including:

1. Removal of snow and ice from parking ramps, parking lots, loading docks, alleys, building entrances, sidewalks, walkways, stairways, and paved exterior plaza areas.

2. Provision of all necessary labor, equipment, materials, tools, and supervision for the services.

3. Plowing operations will commence upon accumulation of 1 inch or more of snowfall or in cases of drifting snow affecting campus accessibility.

4. Snow must be cleared from all parking stalls without blocking vehicles; an off-site dumping area for removed snow must be provided.

5. Windrows between streets and sidewalks are not permitted unless specified conditions are met.

6. Snow piles must be placed to ensure proper drainage and avoid hazards when thawing occurs.

7. All operations should avoid damage to infrastructure and landscaping; specific equipment requirements include polyurethane cutting edges for trucks in the parking ramp and non-metal shovels for paver walkways.

8. De-icing materials must include magnesium chloride for most areas and calcium magnesium acetate for paver walkways; rock salt is prohibited on campus grounds.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective from October 21, 2024, through June 30, 2027, covering three winter seasons with the option to extend an additional two years.

Services will be performed at the Minneapolis College campus located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
