Road Salt: Treated S-763(5)

Background
The State of Minnesota, through its Department of Administration – Office of State Procurement, is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Treated Road Salt (sodium chloride) intended for road use during the 2025-2026 season. This contract aims to fulfill the needs of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and Cooperative Purchasing Venture (CPV) members. The goal is to ensure timely and adequate supply of treated road salt for effective winter road maintenance.

Work Details
The contractor will provide treated crushed rock salt (sodium chloride) for road use. The solicitation is divided into two customer groups:
1) MnDOT, which has a separate Excel Price Schedule for treated salt;
2) CPV members and other state agencies, which have two separate Excel Price Schedules detailing requested amounts and locations.
Responders must offer pricing by individual location and type of road salt. The estimated total dollar value of the contract for one year is between $2,000,000 to $3,000,000.

Period of Performance
The anticipated contract term begins on August 1, 2025, with an option to extend up to an additional 48 months in increments determined by the State.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed in various locations across Minnesota as specified by MnDOT and CPV member requests.
