Background
The University of Minnesota, through its Board of Regents, is seeking proposals for construction services to repair and replace the parapet and roof at Morrill Hall, located on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. This project is critical as Morrill Hall serves as a central hub for University Administration. The goal is to ensure minimal disruption to building occupants while completing the work efficiently during the summer break of 2026.
Work Details
The contractor will provide general construction services that include:
- Repair and replacement of various roofing areas, stone, brick, paint, drainage systems, sealants, and other exterior enclosure components.
- Specific tasks include selective demolition, metal fabrications, miscellaneous rough carpentry, sheathing preparation for re-roofing, built-up asphalt roofing installation, sheet metal flashing and trim installation, joint sealants application, and hazardous materials procedures related to lead and asbestos.
- The contractor must coordinate closely with University facilities management teams to develop a thoughtful staging and construction plan.

Construction is expected to start on May 18th, 2026, with substantial completion required by August 28th, 2026.
