Data Visualization Best Practices Training

Background
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), specifically the Office of Data Strategy and Interoperability (DSI), is seeking proposals to provide training and consultation to the MDH Health Equity Data Community of Practice (CoP).
The goal is to enhance skills in effective and equitable visual communication of both quantitative and qualitative health data.
This Quick Call focuses on best practices in data visualization, while another Quick Call addresses equity awareness in data analysis and visualizations. Each contract will be awarded separately based on demonstrated expertise and competence.

Work Details
The contractor will deliver training that emphasizes best practices in data visualization, including:
- Planning deliverables that involve regular meetings with the CoP project coordinator and the Equity Awareness training contractor to structure the training.
- Development of a customized Data Visualization training curriculum based on input from the workgroup.
- Designing and facilitating educational sessions on effective data visualization products, incorporating virtual interactive lectures and web-based skill-building activities.
- Curriculum should cater to participants with varying levels of prior exposure to data visualization concepts, focusing on public health applications.
- Post-training support through virtual coaching sessions and technical assistance for CoP members, including customized booster sessions based on participant needs.

Period of Performance
Planning will commence in October 2024, with training implementation scheduled for February 2025. The contractor will provide support through September 2025.

Place of Performance
Training sessions will be conducted virtually, with potential in-person components at the MDH office located at Orville L Freeman Building, 625 N Robert St, St Paul, MN 55155.
