University of Michigan's Michigan Union and Pierpont Commons Retail Food Lease 2025

Background
The University of Michigan is a leading research university that aims to provide a diverse range of food service offerings at its Michigan Union and Pierpont Commons locations. The goal of this contract is to lease three food retail spaces to suppliers who can complement the existing food options and enhance the dining experience for the university's diverse campus community.

The university seeks fast casual food service concepts that include global cuisines and specialized offerings.

Work Details
Suppliers are invited to submit proposals for opening restaurant locations in either the Michigan Union or Pierpont Commons. The expected offerings should include a variety of cuisines such as Asian, Indian, Mexican, pizza, sandwiches, ice cream, pretzels, desserts, smoothies, boba teas, and juices.

The awarded suppliers will be expected to begin build-out in May 2026 with an official opening planned for mid-August 2026. The contract duration is seven years with an option for a three-year extension. Suppliers must familiarize themselves with the Sample Lease Agreement provided in the RFP.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence in Spring 2026 with build-out starting in May 2026 and restaurant openings scheduled for mid-August 2026.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the University of Michigan's Michigan Union located on the central campus in Ann Arbor and Pierpont Commons located on the North Campus.

Bidder Requirements
Suppliers must demonstrate their qualifications through detailed company information including business licenses, financial stability (recent annual reports), sustainability practices, and compliance with health regulations.

Additionally, suppliers are encouraged to participate in the university’s Supplier Diversity Program.
