Background
The Battle Creek Public Schools is seeking to enhance the security of its facilities through a comprehensive upgrade of its video surveillance and access control systems. The goal of this project is to improve safety measures across multiple school locations within the district, ensuring a secure environment for students and staff. The project will be managed by AE Tech Design, which is responsible for administering the bid process and overseeing construction activities.
Work Details
The scope of this contract includes district-wide upgrades to video surveillance and access control systems. This encompasses:
1. Demolition of existing cameras, servers, access control electronics, and enclosures.
2. Installation of new video surveillance cameras and access control electronics along with their respective enclosures.
3. Installation of new concealed weapons detection units (CWD) and vape sensors throughout the district.
4. The work may be awarded to a single prime contractor or multiple contractors based on the owner's discretion. All contractors must coordinate their activities with AE Tech Design.
Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence as soon as possible after contract award, with a preference for an accelerated timeline. Work will primarily occur outside normal school hours, including second shifts, weekends, or during school breaks to minimize disruption.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be properly licensed under Michigan law and able to obtain necessary insurance and bonds required for the work. A Performance Bond and Labor & Material Payment Bond will be required from the successful bidder, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract sum. Additionally, bidders must submit a notarized Familial Disclosure Statement, an Iran Economic Sanctions Act Affidavit of Compliance, and provide at least three references for similar K-12 projects in West Michigan.
