Description
Background
The University of Michigan is seeking proposals from qualified suppliers for the upgrade of its Northwoods Graduate Housing internet service. The mission of the University is to serve the people of Michigan and the world through excellence in creating, communicating, preserving, and applying knowledge.
The project aims to replace an existing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) DOCSIS 3.0 system with a modern Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) that incorporates Virtual Cable Modem Termination Systems (vCMTS) and Remote PHY Device (RPD) nodes to provide enhanced internet services.
Work Details
The scope of work includes the complete replacement of the current CMTS and HFC nodes with vCMTS and RPD nodes. Future plans include deploying DOCSIS 4.0 after completing the high-split plant upgrade. The network currently serves approximately 1,200 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems across 11 service groups.
Period of Performance
The contract is expected to be for a period of five years.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the University of Michigan's Northwoods Graduate Housing campuses located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Bidder Requirements
Suppliers must demonstrate experience with higher education clients and provide details about their company structure, including size and organizational background.
Preference will be given to goods or services manufactured or provided by Michigan businesses if competitively priced.
