Michigan Center Schools 2026 Hvac Upgrades

Background
Michigan Center Schools (MCS) is seeking qualified contractors for the 2026 HVAC Upgrades project at the Jr/Sr High School, specifically in the North West Wing. The goal of this contract is to enhance the heating and cooling systems within the school to improve comfort and efficiency. The project involves significant upgrades to existing infrastructure, aligning with MCS's mission to provide a conducive learning environment.

Work Details
The scope of work includes: removal of existing steam heating units; installation of hydronic heating and DX cooling equipment; installation of supporting electrical systems; implementation of a DDC temperature control system; and other supporting building trades work.

The project will specifically involve: unit ventilators, variable refrigerant flow fan coil units, cabinet unit heaters, fin tube installations, new insulated heating hot water piping, insulated refrigerant piping throughout the building, and auxiliary boiler room equipment. This work will impact approximately 20 classrooms, 5 office spaces, and hallways on the first and second floors.

Period of Performance
The substantial completion date for all trades' work is projected to be on or about August 7, 2026. The bid proposals must be received by 10 AM on September 8, 2025.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at Michigan Center Schools, specifically at the Jr/Sr High School located at 400 S State St, Michigan Center, MI 49254.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with several requirements including: providing signed affidavits disclosing any familial relationships with members of the Board of Education or superintendent; compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act; a statement of conflict of interest; confirmation that they are not a suspended or debarred vendor in Michigan; and adherence to a Michigan-based business preference which may apply a lesser value of 5% or $10,000 in determining awards.
