Lincoln Park High School Abatement

Background
Lincoln Park Public Schools is seeking bids for asbestos abatement and selective interior demolition as part of high school renovations scheduled for Summer 2026. The project aims to ensure a safe environment by removing hazardous materials from various areas within the school, aligning with the district's commitment to maintaining healthy educational facilities.

Work Details
The contract involves the removal of asbestos-containing ceiling and flooring materials in classrooms and corridors, as well as selective interior demolition of millwork/countertops and asbestos thermal system pipe insulation. Specific tasks include:

- Removal of non-asbestos containing ceiling tiles with asbestos-containing glue-pods on plasterboard/drywall ceiling systems.
- Demolition of ceilings and flooring in corridors, classrooms, cafeteria rooms, main office, science wing classrooms, and additional athletic wing pool office areas.
- Grinding method for removing asbestos floor tile and/or mastic to prepare for new flooring installation.
- All abatement work must be conducted within full negative pressure HEPA filtered containment areas equipped with decontamination units. Contractors are responsible for verifying which millwork may remain to avoid damage during demolition.

Period of Performance
The work is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2026, with a target completion date that must be adhered to as specified in the bid documents.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must possess a State of Michigan Asbestos Abatement License. A bid bond of 5% is required along with performance and labor/material payment bonds at 100% of the contract price. Bidders must also submit a sworn and notarized familial relationship disclosure statement and comply with Iran Economic Sanctions disclosures. Prevailing wage requirements apply to all work performed under this contract.
