Background
The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP), on behalf of the General Services Department (GSD), is seeking proposals from qualified respondents to provide technical or professional services for the renovation of Farwell Park. The goal is to enhance the park user experience through various improvements, including the renovation of tennis courts, playgrounds, installation of new walkways, and site amenities. This initiative aims to create a more accessible and enjoyable environment for the community.
Work Details
The contract includes the following services:
1. **Tennis Court Renovation:**
- Remove approximately 12,960 SF of existing asphalt and salvage base for new court.
- Install 12,960 SF of new asphalt (4” thick) on a compacted gravel base.
- Install two Bison model #TN-10 Competition Tennis Systems with nets.
- Apply acrylic color surface system and standard light blue pickleball striping as per specifications.
2. **Walking Paths & Connectivity:**
- Stake proposed concrete and asphalt work locations for approval.
- Excavate and install approximately 6,000 SF of concrete walkways (8” deep) and 68,000 SF of asphalt walking paths (9” deep).
3. **Universal Playground:**
- Remove existing playground materials and excavate a new area (3500 SF, 16” deep).
- Provide and install play equipment as determined by the City Representative with a drainage system included.
4. **Site Amenities:**
- Install two temporary project signs, six picnic tables (Dumor Picnic Table, 72 Series), three grills (Most Dependable Fountains BBQ 2), three coal bins ('Park n Pool' Concrete Ash Receptacle), six benches (Dumor Bench, 160 Series), anti-tipping rings, and trash receptacles.
5. **Site Restoration:**
- Complete restoration work including backfilling, grading, hydro-seeding, fertilization, and final clean-up.
6. **Mobilization & Layout:**
- Mobilization costs will cover all preparatory work necessary to begin the project.
7. **Bonds & Insurance:**
- A performance bond in the amount of 100% of the contract value is required.
