ELA Curriculum

Background
Van Buren Public Schools is a PreK – 12 Public School District located in Belleville, MI. The district anticipates having 1,952 students in grades K-6. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals for a K-6 English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum that includes resource materials in both print and digital/online formats.

Work Details
The selected contractor will provide a comprehensive ELA Curriculum that meets the following specifications:

- Must be based on ELA Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Curriculum should be at least 2-3 years old and adopted in at least two school districts.
- A one-year subscription option with renewal options is required.
- All materials must be compatible with Chromebooks for both students and staff.
- Include teacher planning guides, manuals, and an online platform that is user-friendly for both teachers and students.
- Curriculum must align with the science of reading principles, including explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, handwriting instruction, and writing processes.
- Performance specifications include systematic organization of materials, customization options for teachers, support for diverse learners, evidence-based instructional strategies, monitoring student progress through various assessments, and training for teachers before the school year starts.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on July 1, 2025, and will run for one year until June 30, 2026. There are options to extend the contract through June 30, 2031 depending on pricing proposals.

The services will be performed at Van Buren Public Schools located at 555 W. Columbia Ave., Belleville, MI 48111.
