DSS#2 Janitorial/Custodial Services for the Department of Transportation

Background
The City of Detroit's Office of Contracting and Procurement is seeking bids for DSS#2 Janitorial/Custodial Services for the Department of Transportation (DDOT). The goal is to provide commercial cleaning services across various facilities in Detroit, ensuring a clean and safe environment for employees and the public. Only approved DSS#2 Janitorial/Custodial Suppliers are eligible to bid.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive janitorial services at multiple locations including:

- Central Administration Building (1301 E Warren)
- Gilbert Terminal and Garage (5600 Wabash)
- Shoemaker Terminal and Garage (5149 St. Jean)
- Rosa Parks Transit Center (360 Michigan Ave)

Services include daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual cleaning tasks such as waste disposal, floor cleaning, restroom sanitation, dusting surfaces, window cleaning, graffiti removal, and maintaining cleanliness in all areas. Specific tasks include:

- Daily: Collecting rubbish, emptying waste containers, sweeping floors, damp wiping furniture, vacuuming carpets.
- Weekly: Wet mopping floors, washing telephones.
- Monthly: Cleaning office partitions and glass.
- Quarterly: Dusting blinds and shampooing carpets.
- Semi-annually: Vacuum dusting storage areas.
- Annual: Washing interior walls.

Period of Performance
The contract term is three years with options for renewal subject to City Council approval.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations throughout the City of Detroit including the Central Administration Building, Gilbert Terminal and Garage, Shoemaker Terminal and Garage, and Rosa Parks Transit Center.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have a minimum of three years of experience providing commercial cleaning services and at least two years in high traffic locations. Bidders must also comply with Executive Order No. 2016-2 regarding workforce composition. Insurance requirements include Worker’s Compensation insurance with Michigan statutory limits and Commercial General Liability insurance with specified coverage amounts.
