Background
The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide design-build services for the renovation of the Department of Housing and Redevelopment (HRD) office located at 2 Woodward Suite 908, Detroit, MI. The goal is to enhance security, space efficiency, and workplace comfort within the HRD suite, which is approximately 17,500 square feet. The project aims to modernize the office environment to meet current operational and safety standards.
Work Details
The selected contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the project including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. The work will be divided into two phases:
1. **Design and Preconstruction Phase**:
- Prepare schematic layouts compliant with code.
- Provide a complete assessment of existing systems.
- Develop construction documents for permitting.
2. **Construction Phase**:
- Demolition of existing workstations and finishes.
- Carpentry work including installation of a new reception desk and kitchenette.
- Electrical upgrades including new LED fixtures and additional outlets.
- HVAC assessment and upgrades as needed.
- Plumbing updates including replacement of sinks.
- Installation of new flooring (commercial grade carpet squares and Luxury Vinyl Tile).
- Fire safety installations including alarms and emergency lights.
- Final cleaning and debris removal after construction completion.
Period of Performance
The contract term will be for eighteen (18) months from the date of award.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the City of Detroit Department of Housing and Redevelopment located at 2 Woodward Avenue, Suite 908, Detroit, MI 48226.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate a minimum of five years of design-build experience.
