Custodial Services

Background
Saranac Community Schools is seeking proposals for custodial employment management services to provide licensed and trained custodians. The goal is to ensure comprehensive personnel management, including payroll, training, and benefits, while the school district maintains operational control over custodial activities.

Work Details
The selected vendor will be responsible for:
- Recruiting, pre-employment screening, hiring, qualifying, certifying, disciplining, and terminating custodians.
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Maintaining legally required employment benefits and insurance coverage.
- Operating a payroll system compliant with federal, state, and local laws.
- Conducting payroll and benefit reporting.
- Establishing fringe benefit options.
- Ensuring safe and efficient work schedules for custodians.
- Providing necessary training through a qualified agency.
- Conducting fingerprinting checks for employees.
- Reporting any arrests of custodians to the school district.
- Providing detailed monthly invoices.
- Not subcontracting services without prior consent from Saranac Community Schools.
- Submitting semi-annual reports for the Registry of Educational Personnel.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence during the 2026-2027 school year and will expire on June 30, 2027, with an option to renew for additional years.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at Saranac Community Schools located at 225 Pleasant Street, Saranac, MI 48881.

Bidder Requirements
Proposers must submit a sworn Familial Disclosure Affidavit disclosing any familial relationships with employees of Saranac Community Schools. Proposals must include evidence of being an equal opportunity employer and provide a complete description of proposed benefits and wage scales. Additionally, proposers must demonstrate their ability to provide adequate insurance coverage.
