Bridge Inspection Services

Background
The City of Detroit Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP), on behalf of the Department of Public Works, seeks qualified firms to provide technical and professional services for bridge inspection and quality control. This initiative is driven by staff shortages and increased project demands, necessitating external engineering support to comply with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) standards.

The City Engineering Division requires assistance with routine bridge inspections, including specialized underwater inspections and geotechnical engineering services for bridge and retaining wall design projects.

Work Details
The contractor will perform bridge inspection services in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Program (NBIP). Services include:
- Quality control/assurance for in-house inspections
- Full inspection services as needed
- Underwater bridge inspections
- Geotechnical engineering services to support design efforts for bridges and retaining walls.

The contractor will work closely with City agency staff under the supervision of the City, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon the issuance of a notice to proceed and will remain in effect until all projects are completed, audited, and accepted by the City of Detroit, but no later than December 31, 2027. The contract may include up to two one-year renewal options.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed within the City of Detroit.
