Background
The project involves roof replacements at the Alger Correctional Facility located in Wetmore, Michigan. The facility is managed by the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), which aims to maintain safe and secure environments for inmates and staff. The goal of this contract is to replace the existing roofing systems on two buildings: the 300 Building and the Spruce Housing Unit, ensuring compliance with state building codes and safety regulations.

Work Details
The contractor is required to remove and replace the existing roofing membranes as follows:
- For the 300 Building, the existing TPO roofing membrane will be replaced with a new EPDM roofing membrane.
- For the Spruce Housing Unit, the existing PVC roofing membrane will also be replaced with a new EPDM roofing membrane.

Additional work includes:
- Removal of existing roof drains and replacement with new cast iron roof drains.
- Installation of new EPDM roofing membranes over existing rigid insulation and metal decks.
- Provision of temporary weatherproofing during construction to ensure that the facility remains operational.

Period of Performance
The contract duration is set for 120 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with an expected completion date around July 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Alger Correctional Facility located at Industrial Park Drive, Wetmore, MI 49895.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of being a Qualified Disabled Veteran (QDV) if applicable, along with documentation supporting their status as a Michigan-based business. A performance bond and payment bond are required for all bids over $50,000. Each bid must include a five percent bid guarantee. Additionally, bidders must comply with all applicable asbestos abatement regulations if such work is involved.
