Background
The Lapeer County Intermediate School District (LCISD) is seeking bids from qualified, licensed, and experienced contractors for the replacement of roofs on two barn structures located at their property in Attica, Michigan. The goal is to replace aging asphalt roofs with durable, low-maintenance steel roofing to enhance the longevity of the structures, improve weather resistance, and lower long-term maintenance costs.
Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Removal of existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, flashings, and associated materials with proper disposal as per Michigan regulations.
2. Inspection and repair/replacement of any damaged roof decking, fascia, soffit, or structural elements as needed (unit pricing required for add-ons).
3. Installation of a new screw-down steel metal roofing system (minimum 24-gauge) with a manufacturer’s warranty. The color will be selected by LCISD from standard options.
4. Installation of new underlayment, ice and water shield in valleys/eaves, ridge vents, step flashing, counter flashing, and all trim/fascia components.
5. Ensuring positive drainage and compliance with current Michigan Building Code and local requirements.
6. Providing a manufacturer’s warranty (minimum 20-30 years) and contractor workmanship warranty (minimum 5 years).
7. Daily site cleanup and restoration upon completion.

The successful bidder must complete the work no later than November 1, 2026.

Bids exceeding $50,000 must include a certified check or bid bond payable to the Lapeer County ISD equivalent to 5% of the base bid. Bidders must also provide three references upon request.
