Background
The University of Maine System (UMS) is a comprehensive public institution of higher education established in 1968, uniting six distinctive public universities across 10 campuses. UMS serves over 30,000 students annually and employs more than 2,000 faculty and 3,000 staff. The system aims to provide quality higher education while fulfilling its mission of teaching, research, and public service.
The RFP seeks a general-purpose generative AI service to support teaching, learning, and administrative functions across all academic disciplines within the university system.
Work Details
The contractor will provide enterprise generative AI services that utilize a large language model to support students, faculty, and staff. The services will include:
- Implementation of a generative AI platform that supports both individual and group use.
- Integration with existing university systems for seamless access.
- Training for users on how to effectively utilize the AI services.
- Ongoing maintenance and support for the AI platform.
- Compliance with accessibility standards as outlined in the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT).
Period of Performance
The contract will commence on July 1, 2026, and terminate on June 30, 2038. There is an option for additional renewals upon mutual written agreement between the parties.
Place of Performance
The services will be performed at various locations within the University of Maine System's campuses across the state of Maine.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must demonstrate experience in providing similar generative AI solutions in higher education settings. They must comply with insurance requirements including commercial general liability, vehicle liability, workers compensation, professional liability insurance, and cyber liability insurance. Additionally, bidders must adhere to data protection standards as outlined in Rider C of the agreement.
