Background
The City of Bangor is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced contractors to provide pavement marking services for a period of one year, starting in FY2026. The goal of this contract is to ensure proper and safe pavement markings throughout the city, adhering to nationally accepted standards for traffic control.
Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing long line striping services, including lane lines, center lines, and edge lines on an annual basis. Additionally, the contractor will perform routine painting of arrows, symbols, words, stop bars, railroad crossings, sharrows, crosswalk squares, delineator lines, and handicapped spaces. All services must comply with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices to ensure safety.
Specific quantities include:
- 415 straight arrows
- 492 left arrows
- 218 right arrows
- 781 stop lines
- 499 crosswalks (equating to 7024 individual squares).
The contractor must also remove existing pavement markings using approved methods without damaging the pavement. Equipment used must be reliable and suitable for the tasks required.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence in FY2026 and is set for a duration of one year with options for three additional one-year renewals contingent upon mutual agreement.
Place of Performance
All work will be performed within the City of Bangor.
Bidder Requirements
Proposers must maintain specific insurance policies including Worker’s Compensation Insurance, Employer’s Liability Insurance ($500k), Comprehensive Automobile Liability ($1M), Commercial & General Liability ($1M), and Professional Liability Insurance ($1M). Proposers must also demonstrate experience in similar operations and possess adequate equipment and personnel to perform the work satisfactorily.
