Tree Trimming along various highways in Talbot County for SHA (TATREE27SB)

Background
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) for roadside tree trimming services along various highways in Talbot County. The goal of this contract is to provide pre-scheduled tree trimming and removal services on an as-needed basis, ensuring the maintenance and safety of state highways.

Work Details
The contractor will provide roadside tree trimming/removal services for an 18-month period, utilizing a crew consisting of at least one foreman, one tree climber, and one laborer. The contractor must supply all necessary equipment including:

- A minimum 50-foot bucket truck with forestry body and dump capabilities
- A 12-inch self-feeding chipper
- Three chain saws (12-, 24-, and 36-inch blades)
- A minimum 15-foot gas-powered pole saw
- Pole pruner
- Brush hook
- Loppers
- Shovels
- Brooms
- A backpack blower for debris cleanup
- Road work signs per MUTCD guidelines.

The contractor is responsible for the removal and disposal of trimmed materials daily. Work hours are from 7 AM to 2 PM, with daily check-ins at the SHA facility.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over an 18-month period or until quantities are exhausted.

Place of Performance
The primary place of performance is the MDOT SHA Easton Shop located at 8204 Elliott Rd, Easton, MD 21601.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have at least one year of experience providing similar services and must own all required equipment. A reference from the past five years attesting to the bidder's experience is required. Additionally, bidders must be registered with the State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT). Insurance requirements include worker’s compensation coverage of at least $1 million per occurrence and automobile or commercial truck insurance as per state requirements.
