Background
The Board of Education of Prince George’s County (PGCPS) serves the needs of public education in Prince George’s County, covering approximately 1,789 square miles, with a residential population of more than 904,430.
PGCPS is one of the nation's largest school districts, with 208 schools and centers, approximately 131,657 students, and nearly 22,000 employees.
The school system is recognized for its college and career-readiness programs. This Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to provide academic supports and intervention services through the Office of Community Schools to enhance student achievement and promote educational equity.
Work Details
The selected vendor will provide comprehensive high-impact tutoring services that include:
- A minimum of two to three weekly tutoring sessions for K-12 students before, during, or after school (including Saturdays).
- Services for all PGCPS student populations including General Education, Students with Disabilities, and English Language Development.
- A standardized curriculum aligned with Maryland Career and College Readiness Standards for Mathematics and English/Language Arts.
- Support for PGCPS English/Language Arts and Mathematics Curriculum Framework Progress Guides.
- In-person and/or virtual lesson delivery options.
- A detailed program schedule with activity outlines.
- Formal assessments to analyze student data for program effectiveness.
- Outreach initiatives to increase awareness and participation among students and families.
- Qualified tutors meeting state certification requirements.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence on the date the Notice of Award is signed by both parties and will continue for an initial term of three years, with an option for two additional one-year renewals at the prices established at contract award.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed primarily within Prince George’s County Public Schools facilities or as designated by the Office of Community Schools.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must demonstrate a minimum of five years' experience providing enrichment services to K-12 schools, particularly in high-poverty or Community Schools settings. Vendors are encouraged to partner with local firms if they do not meet all required expertise or MBE requirements.
