Background
St. Mary’s College of Maryland, designated as the National Honors College, is an independent public institution in the liberal arts tradition. The College promotes scholarship and creativity by challenging students to achieve academic excellence through classroom activities, experiential learning, and close relationships with faculty. The goal of this contract is to replace an air-cooled reciprocating chiller and condenser at the Prince George Dormitory to ensure efficient climate control within the facility.
Work Details
The contractor shall supply all necessary supplies, equipment, materials, and labor for the removal of one (1) air-cooled reciprocating chiller and one (1) air-cooled condenser and replace them with one (1) new air-cooled chiller and one (1) air-cooled condenser at Prince George Dormitory located at 19065 Hill Commons Drive, St. Mary’s City, MD 20686. The work includes:
- Removal and disposal of existing equipment including components, piping, electrical equipment, and controls.
- Reclaiming and recycling refrigerant from the chiller.
- Installation of a complete factory assembled air-cooled chiller and air-cooled condenser by acceptable manufacturers such as Carrier, Trane, Daiken, or York.
- Installation must comply with manufacturer’s recommendations including new refrigeration lines from the new chiller to the new outside air-cooled condenser unit with necessary pipe insulation.
- Provision of a new refrigerant monitor in the room where the chiller resides.
- Installation of a new three-phase 240-volt 400 amp non-fusible disconnect to replace the existing disconnect.
- Installation of pressure gauges and thermometers where needed and replacement of any existing non-working or damaged gauges during installation.
Period of Performance
The contractor must complete performance no later than March 31, 2025.
