Pre-qualification for Construction Services for Pre-K/Kindergarten Additions at Four Schools

Background
The Board of Education of Carroll County is seeking to pre-qualify contractors for construction services related to Pre-K/Kindergarten additions at four schools. The goal is to enhance educational facilities by adding necessary space for early childhood education. The work is intended to begin in the summer of 2025, and contractors must demonstrate relevant experience, qualifications, and a solid safety record to be eligible to bid.

Work Details
The project involves the construction of Pre-K/Kindergarten additions at four schools: Cranberry Station Elementary School, Friendship Valley Elementary School, Sandymount Elementary School, and Taneytown Elementary School. Specific details include:

1. **Cranberry Station Elementary School**:
- Approximately 5,330 GSF addition.
- Steel frame construction with masonry bearing and brick veneer exterior walls.
- Includes two kindergarten classrooms with one student toilet each and a pre-kindergarten classroom with two student toilets.
- Convenience sinks in each classroom.
- Fire suppression system tied into the existing automatic sprinkler system.
- Direct expansion variable air volume rooftop handling unit with heating water coil.
- New stormwater management facility on site.

2. **Friendship Valley Elementary School**:
- Approximately 5,735 GSF for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten addition; 7,944 GSF PRIDE Program addition.
- Similar construction specifications as Cranberry Station with additional support rooms and modifications to the front entrance.

3. **Sandymount Elementary School**:
- Approximately 8,795 GSF addition with similar specifications including two toilet rooms per pre-kindergarten classroom.

4. **Taneytown Elementary School**:
- Approximately 5,841 GSF addition with similar specifications as Sandymount.

All projects will incorporate MBE participation and prevailing wage rates.

Period of Performance
Construction is expected to start in June 2025 with occupancy anticipated in the summer of 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at four locations within Carroll County, Maryland.
