Description

This project consists of the Contractor providing all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, insurance, licenses, and permits, etc. necessary to remove deteriorated porous concrete and replace with new porous concrete located at Cheltenham Youth Detention Center.
Background
The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is seeking bids for the replacement of a porous concrete traffic circle at the Cheltenham Youth Facility. The project aims to remove deteriorated porous concrete and replace it with new porous concrete, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, insurance, licenses, and permits necessary for the project. Specific tasks include:

1) Major milling work using a self-propelled grinding machine to remove approximately 215 feet long and 23 feet wide of porous concrete at a depth of 6 to 8 inches.

2) Immediate removal of all millings from the pavement without damaging existing infrastructure.

3) Sealing cracks with suitable products and priming the cleaned site with a tack coat before placing an asphalt surface.

4) Laying an average depth of 1.5 inches of 'C' Mix asphalt uniformly across the site.

5) Maintaining accessibility to the Cheltenham Youth Center during construction and ensuring public safety through proper signage and barricades.

Period of Performance
The project must commence no later than thirty (30) days from the award date and be completed within forty-five (45) days from the start date.

Cheltenham Youth Facility, located at 11001 & 11003 Frank Tippet Road, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.

Bidder Requirements
This is a Small Business Reserve Procurement limited to certified small business vendors as per Maryland law. Bidders must have a minimum of five years’ experience in similar work, provide three references, be licensed in Maryland, and submit proof of insurance. A two-year workmanship guarantee is also required.
