Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) Supplemental School Grant FY27

Background
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) provides non-competitive grants to local education agencies (LEAs) with Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) programs. The goal of P-TECH is to support economically disadvantaged students in earning a high school diploma, a two-year associate degree, and first-in-line consideration for employment with partnering companies. This grant aligns with the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, aiming to enhance educational opportunities and workforce readiness.

Work Details
The grant supports the implementation and growth of P-TECH programs through various activities including:

- Teacher planning and coordination outside regular work hours
- Substitute teacher fees for P-TECH activities
- Materials for college courses (textbooks/lab fees)
- Tutoring services beyond current school offerings
- Enrichment activities like field trips
- Transportation for work-based learning.

Funds are allocated at $750 per student based on enrollment data, with a requirement for LEAs to match 100% of the funds. Activities must align with at least one of the six core P-TECH principles:

1. Open Enrollment
2. Public-Private Partnerships
3. Integrated High School and College Course Work
4. Cost-Free Education
5. Workplace Learning
6. Marketing P-TECH.

Period of Performance
The grant period is from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

Place of Performance
The program will be implemented in various local education agencies across Maryland that have established P-TECH programs.

Bidder Requirements
Eligible applicants include LEAs with existing P-TECH programs. They must provide a 100% match to state supplemental school grant funds (in-kind matching is allowable). The application process requires detailed descriptions of how proposed activities will increase student participation and success in the P-TECH program.
