Background
The State of Maryland, through the State Highway Administration (MDOT-SHA), is issuing this Invitation for Bids (IFB) to procure Radiation Dosimeter Badge Supply and Monitoring Services.
The goal of this contract is to provide and service dosimeter badges for monitoring radiation exposure levels for personnel working with nuclear density gauges. This initiative aims to ensure compliance with safety regulations and protect the health of employees who may be exposed to radiation.
Work Details
The contractor will provide and service dosimeter badges, which includes activation and deactivation, as well as monitoring services. The specific tasks include:
1) Providing nuclear dosimeter badges on a quarterly basis, capable of detecting a minimum dose of 1 mRem for gamma and neutron radiation exposure.
2) Delivering badges to the Office of Materials Technology at least five days prior to the monitoring period.
3) Generating quarterly invoice reports detailing badge transactions, including activations, deactivations, and types of services performed.
4) Submitting radiation exposure reports within three weeks after processing returned badges.
5) Ensuring all badges comply with Maryland Department of the Environment regulations (COMAR 26.12.01.01).
6) Handling replacements for defective badges and those lost in transit.
Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of four years, with services required on a quarterly basis.
Place of Performance
The primary place of performance will be at the Office of Materials Technology located at 7450 Traffic Drive, Building #4, Hanover, Maryland 21076.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have a minimum of four years' experience providing radiation dosimeter badge services and must submit evidence of current manufacturing operations within the United States along with NVLAP certification. Additionally, bidders are encouraged to include MBE participation in their bids.
