Museum Exhibit Design, Construction, and Installation B&O Station and Ellicott City Firehouse Museums

Background
Howard County, Maryland is seeking a qualified firm to provide comprehensive services for the design, construction, and installation of exhibits at the B&O Ellicott City Station Museum and Ellicott City Firehouse Museum.
The goal is to enhance the visitor experience through innovative exhibit design and interactive media, aligning with the County's mission to preserve and promote its historical resources.

Work Details
The Contractor will be responsible for:
1. Exhibition Design and Development: Creative direction, interpretive themes, exhibition elements, comprehensive design including display modes, lighting, graphics, community engagement activities, project management throughout all phases of design projects.
2. Interactive Media Development: Conceptual design of interactive media including interface and instructional design; content/script development; digital media production including audio and video production; technical development for applications and systems integration.
3. Video/Film Development: Concept development, pre-production planning, on-site filming, video production including editorial reviews.
4. Exhibition Fabrication and Installation: Project management for fabrication processes, development of exhibit structures including engineering and signage; installation planning covering electrical systems and casework installation; ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on or about June 1, 2026, for a period of one year with an option for one additional year upon approval.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the B&O Ellicott City Station Museum located at 3711 Maryland Avenue, Ellicott City, MD 21043 and the Ellicott City Firehouse Museum located at 3829 Church Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must have at least ten years of experience in relevant fields such as exhibit design and media production.
They must also provide proof of insurance coverage including Commercial General Liability Insurance ($1 million per occurrence), Automobile Liability Insurance ($1 million), and Workers' Compensation Insurance as per Maryland law.
Additionally, a minimum of 15% subcontracting participation from minority business enterprises is encouraged.
