Mission Road Water Main Loop

Background
Howard County, Maryland is seeking to procure a contractor for the installation of a water distribution main loop. The project aims to enhance the water infrastructure within Howard County, specifically along Samuel Morse Drive and Mission Road. This initiative is part of the county's commitment to improving public utilities and ensuring reliable water distribution for its residents.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the installation of approximately 3,900 linear feet of water distribution main loop, which includes various pipe sizes: 6-inch, 8-inch, 12-inch, and 14-inch. The work entails crossing Interstate Highway I-95 inside an existing pipe/casing. Additionally, the contractor will install a new pressure zone division valve and new fire hydrants.

The scope also includes traffic control measures, surface restoration, soil erosion and sediment control plan requirements, and all other miscellaneous appurtenances and incidental work as detailed in the contract drawings.

Period of Performance
The entire project is expected to be completed within 120 calendar days from the notice to proceed.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must be registered to do business in Maryland and comply with all local laws regarding construction projects. They are required to adhere to Howard County's living wage legislation which mandates that employees are paid at least $19.32 per hour as of January 16, 2025. Contractors must certify compliance with this requirement during the contract term.
