Description

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH or the Department), Office of Population Health Improvement (OPHI), is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) for community health worker (CHW) certification training programs currently accredited by the Department to enhance an existing accredited CHW certification training program OR develop a new CHW certification training program.
Background
The Maryland Department of Health (MDH), specifically the Office of Population Health Improvement (OPHI), is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) to enhance or develop community health worker (CHW) certification training programs.

The goal is to support currently accredited CHW training organizations in enhancing their existing curricula or creating new ones, thereby increasing the number of trained CHWs who can serve underserved populations. This initiative is funded by the CDC under the National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities.

Work Details
The selected applicants will either enhance an existing accredited CHW training program or develop a new one.

Enhancements must include at least one enhanced training and recruitment of five underserved/under-resourced CHW candidates at no cost to them. For new programs, applicants must apply for accreditation and conduct at least one training under the new curriculum while recruiting two candidates at no cost.

The total funding available for all awards is not to exceed $50,000. Applicants must comply with ADA requirements ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities and provide detailed project narratives including processes, geographic locations, organizational capacity, recruitment criteria, and program management plans.

Period of Performance
The contract will last approximately six months, from January 2, 2025, to June 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed within Maryland, specifically in jurisdictions where the CHW training programs will be offered.
