Background
The Board of Education of Prince George’s County is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to deliver and install vape detectors as defined in Part III, Scope of Work. These goods and services are primarily for the Department of Maintenance Services, but may also be requested by other Departments within the Prince George’s County Public School system.
PGCPS serves a diverse student population across 208 schools with an annual operating budget of $2.3 billion.
Work Details
The contractor will provide delivery and installation of vape detectors, which must include:
- Real-time detection of vaping activity including nicotine and THC aerosols;
- Environmental monitoring features;
- Cloud-based alerting and reporting;
- Integration capability with existing security platforms;
- Devices supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE);
- Durable, tamper-resistant units suitable for installation in public areas.
The initial installation scope includes 27 middle schools with five units each and 26 high schools with ten units each. Training sessions for PGCPS staff on system use and troubleshooting are also required.
Period of Performance
The contract begins on the date the Notice of Award is signed and continues for three years, with an option to renew for two additional one-year periods.
Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at various locations within the Prince George’s County Public Schools district, including middle schools, high schools, and charter schools as determined by PGCPS.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have a minimum of three years of experience providing similar services. They must also be authorized distributors of the proposed detectors/sensors. An MBE goal of 15% participation is established for this contract. Bidders must submit a qualifications statement detailing their experience, provide references, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws regarding student privacy.
