Elevator System Replacement and Modernization at County Courthouse, Denton, MD

Background
The County Commissioners of Caroline County are seeking bids from qualified and experienced elevator contractors for the comprehensive replacement and modernization of the existing elevator systems located at the Caroline County Courthouse in Denton, MD.
The project aims to enhance safety, improve reliability, increase energy efficiency, ensure code compliance, and enhance the overall passenger experience.

Work Details
The scope of this contract includes a complete turnkey elevator installation. The successful contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, engineering, permits, testing, and other services necessary for the complete replacement/modernization of the elevators.
Specific tasks include:
- Removal of existing components.
- Furnishing and installation of new components.
- Adjustments and tests to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Key components to be replaced or installed include:
- New NON-PROPRIETARY controller with standard industrial electronic components.
- New wiring throughout the hoistway and traveling cable.
- New fixtures including ADA-compliant car operating panel, digital position indicators, hall stations on all floors, hoistway access and fire service.
- New submersible pumping unit with motor and oil.
- Retention of existing rails and brackets.
- Replacement of hydraulic cylinder with new components as needed.
- Installation of new hall doors and cab door panels with necessary hardware.
- Third-party testing upon completion.

Period of Performance
The contractor is expected to commence work within 120 days from the Notice of Award and complete it within 60 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
All work will be performed at the Caroline County Courthouse located at 109 Market Street, Denton, Maryland 21629.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide a Bid Security in the form of a certified check or bid bond for at least 5% of their bid amount.
They must also submit a Certificate of Insurance indicating coverage for General Liability (minimum $2 million) and Workers’ Compensation Insurance as required by law.
Bidders are encouraged to be certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and must comply with local vendor preference guidelines.
