Calvert Hills School-Age Playground and Swing Set Renovation RFP CP-25-05

Background
The City of College Park, Maryland, is seeking proposals for the renovation of the Calvert Hills School-Age Playground and Swing Set. This initiative follows community feedback gathered in 2024 regarding the enhancement of playground facilities at 4601 Calvert Road, College Park, MD 20740. The goal is to create a modern and engaging play environment for children, emphasizing physical and social play.

Work Details
The project involves two main components: a swing set area and a school-age playground. The swing set will replace the existing structure with a like-for-like upgrade, including:
- 2 toddler swings
- 1 ADA-compliant swing
- 3 school-age swings
- A bench

There is also an option to add a tandem swing. The school-age playground will occupy a 1,544 sq. ft. area and must include features such as:
- A tall, large tubular slide
- Two seating benches positioned in opposite corners
- Flat and accessible (low) monkey bars
- Rope web, rock climbing elements, or play-cubes
- A rope or chain bridge connecting playground platforms
- A large shared wide slide
- Bouncing and gravitational spinning features.

The design must align with community preferences gathered from feedback sessions held in late 2024.

Period of Performance
The work is expected to commence within 120 days of receiving the Notice to Proceed and must be completed within the timeframe specified in the contract.

Place of Performance
The contract work will be performed at Calvert Hills Playground located at 4601 Calvert Road, College Park, MD 20740.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide evidence of compliance with equal benefits provisions as per §69-6 of the City Code. They are required to submit various documents including:
- Bid Proposal Form
- Project Work Plan
- Non-Collusion Affidavit
- Affidavit regarding Non-Conviction and False Pretenses
- Information Regarding the Bidder including references from similar projects.

Additionally, bidders must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance with limits of $2 million per occurrence and $1 million for automobile liability.
