Asbestos Abatement and Related Services

Background
The Board of Education of Prince George’s County (PGCPS) serves the public education needs in Prince George’s County, Maryland, covering approximately 1,789 square miles with a population of over 904,430. PGCPS is one of the largest school districts in the nation, with 208 schools and centers, serving approximately 131,657 students and employing nearly 22,000 staff members. The agency is seeking proposals for Asbestos Abatement and Related Services to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations regarding asbestos-containing materials (ACBM) within its facilities.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive Asbestos Abatement services including the removal of asbestos-containing vinyl floor tile (VAT), ceiling tiles, sprayed applied fireproofing, pipe fittings, thermal system insulation, cementitious panels (Transite), and any other ACBM. The vendor is responsible for all labor, materials, supervision, permits, and incidentals necessary for the abatement process. Specific tasks include:

- Conducting site visits to assess work areas.
- Submitting detailed removal plans and shop drawings within ten days post-award.
- Notifying regulatory authorities prior to work commencement.
- Ensuring all workers are AHERA certified and comply with applicable regulations.
- Conducting air sampling and monitoring during abatement activities.
- Providing monthly progress reports to PGCPS.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon the signing of the Notice of Award and will last for an initial term of three years. There are options to extend the contract for two additional one-year periods at the discretion of PGCPS.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations within Prince George's County Public Schools facilities.

Bidder Requirements
Offerors must be fully qualified and licensed to perform asbestos abatement services. They must have a minimum of three years' experience in similar work. All personnel involved must be AHERA certified. A minimum MBE participation goal of 30% has been established for this contract. Offerors must submit documentation demonstrating compliance with MBE requirements or request a waiver if not certified.
