Asbestos Abatement and Related Service

Background
The Board of Education of Prince George’s County (PGCPS) serves the needs of public education in Prince George’s County, covering approximately 1,789 square miles with a residential population of over 904,430.
PGCPS is one of the nation's largest school districts, operating 208 schools and centers with approximately 131,657 students and nearly 22,000 employees.
The school system is recognized for its college and career readiness programs. This Request for Proposals (RFP) seeks qualified vendors to provide Asbestos Abatement and Related Services primarily for the Department of Building Services.

Work Details
The contractor will provide services for the removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACBM), including vinyl floor tile (VAT), ceiling tile, sprayed applied fireproofing, pipe fittings, thermal system insulation, and cementitious panels.
The vendor must supply all labor, materials, supervision, permits, and other incidentals required for the abatement process.
Specific tasks include:
- Conducting site visits to assess ACBM.
- Submitting detailed removal plans and shop drawings within ten days post-award.
- Notifying regulatory authorities before work begins.
- Ensuring compliance with AHERA regulations and Maryland COMAR regulations.
- Providing air sampling and monitoring during the abatement process.
- Completing all work within thirty days from notice to proceed.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon the signing of the Notice of Award and will last for an initial term of three years with an option for two one-year renewals at the Board's discretion.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed at various locations within Prince George’s County Public Schools.

Bidder Requirements
Offerors must be AHERA certified and licensed under Maryland COMAR regulations pertaining to asbestos removal.
They must have a minimum of three years' experience in similar work and submit a qualifications statement detailing their capabilities.
Additionally, there is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) goal of 30% participation in this contract.
