Wakefield Transportation

Background
The Wakefield Public Schools in Massachusetts is seeking bids for the transportation of its Boston and in-town regular education students. The goal of this contract is to ensure safe and reliable transportation services for designated children attending Wakefield Public Schools.

The contract will be effective for three years, with an option for two additional years, contingent upon funding availability.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all necessary services including: transportation equipment, maintenance of equipment, operation and supervision of drivers, safety instructions for drivers, inspections, registration, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The minimum number of buses required includes nine (9) buses: seven (7) for in-district transportation and two (2) for Boston METCO students. Buses must be 77-passenger vehicles that comply with Massachusetts laws regarding school transportation. The contractor must also provide a sufficient number of buses to meet daily requirements, including regular AM and PM runs as well as athletic/activity trips and field trips.

Additional specifications include the requirement for stop arms with flashing lights on all buses, onboard digital video recording devices, and the provision of a local contact number for immediate communication during operational hours.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. Bids are to be submitted on a three-year basis with an alternative bid option for two additional years.

Place of Performance
Transportation services will be provided within the Town of Wakefield, Massachusetts, specifically catering to both in-town students and those attending schools in Boston.
