Somerville - Parking Lot Renovations

Background
The contract is issued by the Massachusetts Trial Court, specifically the Office of Court Management, Facilities Management & Capital Planning. The mission of this office is to manage and oversee facilities for the court system. The goal of this contract is to provide necessary renovations to the parking lot at the Somerville District Court, ensuring it meets safety and accessibility standards.

Work Details
The contractor will provide labor, equipment, materials, and tools to overlay approximately 38,000 square feet of pavement in the parking lot. Specific tasks include:

- Reclaiming and grinding existing asphalt;
- Rebuilding tops of catch basins with brick and block;
- Leveling and grading for proper drainage;
- Installing a 1 ½ inch binder course of bituminous concrete/hot mix asphalt;
- Installing a 1 ½ inch top course of bituminous concrete/hot mix asphalt;
- Removing and reinstalling existing car stops;
- Adding new asphalt curbing where necessary;
- Line striping the parking lot according to existing layout while adhering to DOT standards for space size and ADA compliance.

The project will be conducted off-hours, with all required permits obtained by the contractor. The work must reflect prevailing wage rates, and police detail will be provided to manage street access for heavy equipment. The site must be cleaned daily, with no equipment stored on-site.

Period of Performance
The planned start date for the project is Spring 2026, with substantial completion required by June 30, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Somerville District Court located at 175 Fellsway, Somerville, MA 02145.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with Massachusetts General Laws regarding employment verification (Form I-9), have OSHA safety training (minimum 10 hours), and ensure that all employees are CORI checked before starting work. A bid deposit of 5% is required in the form of a bid bond or certified check payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Bidders must also submit various forms including a Certificate of Insurance and a Certificate of Non-Collusion.
