RFQ FMO240300 Repair Chimney Camp Edwards Training Site HQ 102

Background
The Massachusetts Army National Guard is issuing this solicitation for the repair of the chimney at Camp Edwards Training Site HQ 102, located at Joint Base Cape Cod. The project aims to address the disrepair of the existing chimney and its components, which is critical for maintaining the integrity of the historic structure originally built circa 1940. The goal is to stop water infiltration and ensure the longevity of the facility.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:

1. Demolition of existing roofing shingles, ridge vent shingles, and underlayment on the hip side of the chimney.
2. Removal of existing flashing and counterflashing at the chimney.
3. Demolition of the existing concrete chimney crown and selective brick as identified in the field.
4. Demolition of 30 square feet of gypsum board at the interior of the chimney on the 2nd floor office.
5. Installation of new brick at locations where selective demolition occurred.
6. Repointing of the chimney by a masonry contractor with a minimum of 5 years' experience in historic masonry buildings, ensuring mortar removal to a depth not exceeding one-third of the masonry unit.
7. Installation of new copper flashing (20 ounces per square foot) with soldered seams; no caulking allowed.
8. Installation of a new concrete chimney crown matching existing dimensions without penetrations.
9. Installation of self-adhering polymer-modified asphalt bitumen membrane underlayment and GAF Royal Sovereign Weathered Gray shingles.
10. Removal of existing paint from 90% or more of the interior chimney surface using approved methods.
11. Installation of new Greenboard (30 square feet), including taping, mudding seams, caulking, and painting.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on August 12, 2024, following bid acceptance on August 9, 2024.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Camp Edwards Training Site HQ 102 located in MTA Camp Edwards, MA.
