RFQ 241329 Repair and Maintain Firebreaks Camp Edwards, MA

Background
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, through its Executive Office of Public Safety & Security Military Division, is issuing RFQ 241329 for the repair and maintenance of firebreaks at Camp Edwards, located in the 4000 Area of Joint Base Cape Cod.

The mission of this contract is to ensure the safety and operational readiness of the Massachusetts Army National Guard Training Site by maintaining clear firebreaks that can facilitate emergency response and prevent wildfires.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Remove trees, shrubs, grass, and other vegetation within a roadway bed spanning no less than 40 feet wide on Pew Road and 50 feet on Pocasset Forestdale, creating a clear vertical shaft skyward over the roadway.
2. Carefully cut branches and growth on trees at the roadway edge to maintain a clear vertical shaft over the road bed; all wood materials must be chipped, removed from post, and disposed of properly.
3. Remove all stumps from the site for disposal.
4. Grade and level the cut area to allow fire apparatus to traverse the road; fill materials are available on post.
5. Conduct site clearing operations with minimal interference to existing traffic and protect existing trees outside clearing boundaries.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on January 21, 2025, following a mandatory site visit on January 7, 2024. Completion timelines will depend on funding availability and project requirements.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Camp Edwards located in Joint Base Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
