Background
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is seeking proposals from qualified Third-Party Logistics (3PL) firms to perform Warehousing and Logistics Services. The goal of this contract is to support the maintenance and operations departments across multiple locations in the Greater Boston region, ensuring efficient management of inventory for the repair of revenue vehicles, infrastructure maintenance, and safety.
Work Details
The contractor will manage a 200,000 sq ft warehouse in West Bridgewater, MA, and 16 stockroom operations throughout the region. Responsibilities include managing union employees for warehouse and stockroom operations; receiving, pick/pack, issuing parts, shipping, cycle counting, transfers, consolidation, inspection, returns, core management, un-crating, material audits, and deliveries.
The MBTA warehouse maintains inventory of consumable items, repair parts, infrastructure components, large capital replacement parts, files, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The contractor must also ensure compliance with safety training requirements including OSHA standards.
Period of Performance
The contract will be for five years with three optional two-year extensions at the discretion of the MBTA. The estimated service start date is February 1, 2026.
Place of Performance
The primary location for performance will be at the MBTA's main warehouse located at 35 United Drive West Bridgewater, MA. Additionally, services will be provided at various stockroom locations throughout the Greater Boston area.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must comply with Supplier Diversity Program requirements by proposing specific commitments to spend with certified diverse companies. Contractors must report spending with SDP Partners throughout the contract duration. All contractor employees must pass background checks and drug/alcohol testing. Recommended staffing includes management personnel and union employees as specified in the labor chart.
