Rail: Ware River Secondary Culvert Replacement at MP 19.84 and MP 19.96

Background
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation Rail and Transit Division (MassDOT) is seeking contractors for the Ware River Secondary Culvert Replacements at MP 19.84 & MP 19.96 project as part of the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Program. The goal of this contract is to enhance the infrastructure by replacing two railroad culvert crossings on the Ware River Secondary in Gilbertville, MA.

Work Details
The project consists of the following work:
- Removal and disposal of existing twin 8” round corrugated metal culvert at MP 19.84;
- Furnishing and installing a 24” round Class V Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) culvert with precast concrete wingwall and permanent steel sheeting support wall at MP 19.84;
- Removing, resetting, surfacing, and aligning track;
- All other work associated with the Culvert Replacement at MP 19.84 as described in the Project Description and Scope of Work sections of the bid documents;
- Removal and disposal of existing 36” x 36” stone box culvert at MP 19.96;
- Furnishing and installing a 48” round Class V Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) culvert with precast concrete wingwalls at MP 19.96;
- Removing, resetting, surfacing, and aligning track;
- All other work associated with the Culvert Replacement at MP 19.96 as described in the Project Description and Scope of Work sections of the bid documents.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed until Monday, September 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in Gilbertville, Massachusetts.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have an approved Drug and Alcohol testing plan compliant with Federal Railroad Administration regulations. They must be prequalified by MBTA in Class 1 – General Transit Construction or Class 3 – Trackwork for a contract value of $1.32 million. Bidders must register with COMMBUYS to bid on this project and provide a list of projects of similar size and scope along with references for three such projects. This project has an MBE/WBE participation goal of 6%.
