Phase 1 Ash Tree Removal

Background
The TOWN of West Newbury, Department of Public Works, is seeking bids from qualified contractors to conduct 25 Ash tree removals (or pruning) and stump grinding as requested from the edge of public roadways and TOWN properties at locations noted on the attached Bid Price Proposal Sheet of this document. The award decision will be made within 2-5 days from the closing date. The TOWN reserves the right to cancel or reject any or all bids if it serves the best interest of the TOWN.

Work Details
The CONTRACTOR shall remove (or prune) 25 trees from locations noted on the Bid Price Proposal Sheet and leave the stump behind no higher than 18” above the ground, unless otherwise directed by Town Staff. Stump grinding may also be requested by the TOWN at certain locations.
The CONTRACTOR will be allowed to dispose wood chippings at the DPW facility at no charge, however tree trunks will not be accepted and the CONTRACTOR will be responsible for disposing of these at no cost to the TOWN. The work schedule shall occur between the hours of 7am-6pm, Monday – Friday with special approval from the Highway Superintendent for days and times outside these limits or on a holiday. CONTRACTOR must schedule work days 48 hours in advance with the Highway Superintendent so TOWN personnel can be present to supervise and assist, when possible, with removal of these trees and to allow for adequate time for the TOWN to order Police Details for such work.

Period of Performance
This contract will be valid from June 17th, 2024 and expire on August 31st, 2024. It is expected that the WORK shall start within 21 days of signed contract, or when mutually agreed upon.
