MDAR GRANT FY26- Buy Local Grant Program

Background
The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is issuing a grant opportunity for the Buy Local Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2026. The purpose of this program is to promote and support local agriculture by funding campaigns that enhance the marketing potential of agricultural businesses and products in various regions of Massachusetts, including western, central, northeastern, and southeastern areas.

The initiative aims to connect farmers with their communities, increase consumer awareness of locally grown food products, and improve access to these food sources.

Work Details
The grant will fund various initiatives aimed at strengthening local agricultural marketing efforts. Specific deliverables may include:

1) Social Media and Website Campaign: Produce and boost 20 Facebook ads promoting local crops; produce 8 e-newsletters.

2) Technical Assistance: Conduct a series of 10 workshops on grower training programs; provide at least 20 one-on-one farmer mentor sessions.

3) Produce Marketing Materials: Design, print, and distribute 20,000 copies of a Guide to Local Food & Farms; design and print 10,000 pick-your-own (PYO) rack cards.

Additional deliverables may be added as necessary.

Period of Performance
The contract duration will begin on October 1, 2025, and end no later than June 30, 2026.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed in various regions across Massachusetts including western, central, northeastern, and southeastern areas.

Bidder Requirements
Eligible applicants must be non-profit organizations with at least two years of experience in promoting local agriculture. Proof of non-profit status is required as part of the proposal submission. Proposals must demonstrate the ability to meet specific objectives related to increasing cash receipts for farmers from local sales and enhancing recognition of Massachusetts agriculture.
