Background
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is seeking to establish a reliable source for the supply of various cylinder gases including Oxygen, Acetylene, Argon, Argon/CO2, Carbon Dioxide, Liquid Nitrogen, Liquid Oxygen, Nitrogen, Propane, and Tri-Gas. This contract aims to meet the gas supply needs across all MBTA locations over a three-year period. The MBTA does not own its own cylinders; therefore, the contractor will be required to provide contractor-owned cylinders compliant with safety regulations.
Work Details
The contractor will supply the following cylinder gases in specified quantities over a 36-month period:
- Acetylene: 300 Size 4 CGA 300 cylinders
- Argon (100%): 36 Industrial Size 125 and 36 Industrial Size 200 CGA 580 cylinders
- Argon/CO2 (75/25): 36 Industrial Size 125 and 36 Industrial Size 200 CGA 580 cylinders
- CO2 (100%): 36 Industrial Size 200 CGA 320 cylinders
- Liquid Nitrogen: 36 Industrial Size 180 Liter cylinders
- Liquid Oxygen: 72 Industrial Size 200 Liter cylinders
- Nitrogen: 120 Industrial Size 200 CGA 580 cylinders
- Oxygen: 372 Industrial Size 125 CGA (H) 540 and 120 Industrial Size 200 CGA 540 cylinders
- Propane: 300 units of size Aluminum at approximately 32 lbs. each
- Tri-Gas (90 Helium – 7.5 Argon – 2.5 Carbon Dioxide): 18 Industrial Size 200 CGA 580 cylinders.
The contractor is responsible for ensuring all gas cylinders are in safe condition prior to delivery and must comply with OSHA requirements for labeling and safety data sheets.
Period of Performance
The contract will be executed over a three-year period starting from the date of award.
Place of Performance
The contract will cover all Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority locations with specific deliveries primarily to designated yards including Reservoir Yard, Cabot Yard, Wellington Yard, Orient Heights Yard, and Charlestown Rail Shop.
